The village of Quaglietta belongs to the municipality of Calabritto, in the province of Avellino.
The ruins of the Castle in Quaglietta are situated on a hilltop overlooking the entire valley of Sele. Much of the history of the castle's construction is vague. Some sources, however, claim that the Castle already existed during Norman times. It has a quadrilateral plan, a central courtyard and the dwelling of the feudatories.
Damaged by the earthquake of 1980, actually we can only see the ruins of it, a high Keep and most of the Curtain Walls with some windows, few battlements and loopholes especially on the upper part of the Castle remains. The Keep has a square plan and is nine m. high.
Its degradation sped up after the roof caved in or much of the tumbled stone was reused by the citizens to build new buildings. Quaglietta is charming and suggestive with its narrow streets, ancient alleys and old stone houses.
