Imperiale Palace is located in the old town of Salza Irpina. In the centre of the facade is an 18th century portal decorated with semi-columns supporting the central balcony of the first floor. The Palace is divided into four levels and was built by the Bario family, Marquis of Salza, at the end of the 17th century. The entrance hall has a rib-vaulted staircase; there is a useful cellar space for storage on the lower ground floor. There are many spacious rooms on the main floor; some of the rooms are decorated with frescoes and have original doors that dates back to the 18th century. On the top floor, "the sleeping area" is made up of some spacious rooms that have windows with stone cornice. The wall of a magnificent stone staircase is hung with an embroidered drape depicting a black spread eagle, "coat of arms" of the Imperiale family.
Imperiale Palace underwent a major restoration after the earthquake of 1980. Now it is available at the visit.
