Teora was first mentioned in a document that dates back to 837.
The hamlet grew up around a castle that was built during the Lombard domination. Over the succeeding centuries, ownership of the castle passed from hand to hand - Filippo de Tigora, Giacomo Arcuccio, Antonello Gesualdo and the Ludovisi family.
The Mirelli family was the last family who ruled over Teora until the abolition of feudalism in 1806.
The Castle in Teora was certainly an imposing building, nevertheless, nothing has survived to the present day.
