Bagnoli was first mentioned in a document that dates back to 1001.
Gradually many people settled around the fortress that was built during the Lombard domination. The Castle was probably built in the 7th-8th century, in order to protect the surrounding territory from enemy raids.
Since 1197 the Castle has been the property of several aristocratic families among them Adenolfo d'Aquino, Francesco Sforza e Cesare Palatucci. Degli Strozzi was the last family who ruled over Bagnoli until the abolition of the feudalism.
In the second half of the 19th century it was definitely abandoned.
Recently restored, you can visit it.
